Simple nourishment.
These little bundles of deliciousness SERIOUSLY hit the spot – they require very few ingredients and little effort which is a bonus.
The wicked flavour combo of raw chocolate and tahini is heavenly, whilst packing in some all important fibre and protein due to the use of kidney beans! The texture and taste is top – don’t be put off.
The nutritional benefits of rich, raw cacao powder and tahini include the minerals magnesium, calcium and iron, and flavonoids in the form of epicatechins (similar to of those found in green tea), which have numerous benefits across our health, from supporting blood flow (due to an increase of nitric oxide production) to neuro-protective and anti-inflammatory actions; influencing memory, mood and cognition.
These may look basic but they are one of my absolute favourite creations, almost ‘truffle-esque’ but super nutritious – you will LOVE them.
Making time: 10 mins
Ingredients:
1 can of red kidney beans, drained and rinsed
4 tbsp raw cacao powder
2 tbsp honey or maple syrup
1 tbsp sultanas or raisins
1.5 tbsp raw cacao nibs
2 tbsp drizzly tahini (or nut butter)
1 tsp stevia or sugar (optional)
Method:
In a food processor, blend all the ingredients together on full speed until a thick ‘dough’ forms
Break sections away and roll into 15-18 balls
Freeze for 1 hour to ‘set’ then keep in the fridge for up to 5 days
